Silicone Grease NLGI#1 O-Ring & Valve Lubricant

$0.00

Silicone Grease NLGI#1 O-Ring & Valve Lubricant (Silicone Compound) is an NLGI #1(lowest stiffness) Silicone Grease, formulated with polydimethylsiloxane (CAS # 63148-62-9) and inert silica filler.
Chemical Name: Polydimethylsiloxane Silicone Grease

Clearco Silicone Greases (Silicone Compounds) are formulated with 100% polydimethylsiloxane (CAS # 63148-62-9) and inert silica filler. They are used in a variety of applications that require: wide range of thermal stability, high dielectric strength, electrical insulation, inertness to rubber and plastic surfaces, and insulation against corrosion and moisture.

Silicone Greases are inert to virtually all substrates with the exception of silicone rubber. * They are often used for lubricating o-rings, gaskets, valves and seals as well as surfaces that require excellent lubricating properties over long periods without drying out. They are not recommended for metal-to-metal lubrication or on surfaces that will be painted or finished.

*Swelling may occur

Silicone Greases are available in 3-differeent consistencies: NLGI #1, NLGI#2 & NLGI#3. NLGI is a measure of the stiffness of silicone grease with NLGI 1 being the least stiff and NLGI 3 being the stiffest. The most widely used is the NLGI#2 (Silicone Grease 3005).

Unlike petroleum based greases, silicone greases offer wider service temperature ranges and are compatible with virtually all surfaces. Being composed of 100% silicone, they do not contain any petroleum distillates that can attack and dry out rubbers and plastics.

Use: It is used in a variety of applications that require: wide range of thermal stability, high dielectric strength, electrical insulation, inertness to rubber and plastic surfaces, and insulation against corrosion and moisture.

Silicone Grease NLGI#1 is inert to virtually all substrates with the exception of silicone rubber. * It is often used for lubricating o-rings, gaskets, valves and seals as well as surfaces that require excellent lubricating properties over long periods without drying out. It is not recommended for metal-to-metal lubrication or on surfaces that will be painted or finished.

O-Ring Compatibility

* Swelling may occur

NLGI is a measure of the stiffness of silicone grease with NLGI 1 being the least stiff and NLGI 3 being the stiffest. Due to its light consistency, NLGI#1 is the preferred consistency for lubricating and insulating scuba wet suits and equipment. However, if stiffer grease is preferred, we also carry an NLGI#2 (Silicone Grease 3005) as well as an NLGI #3.

Properties:

  • 100% Silicone Grease….contains no petroleum distillates
  • NLGI#1 Consistency…least stiff of the silicone greases
  • NSF H1 Registered Food Grade Silicone Grease
  • Wide Service Temperature Range: -57°C to 200°C
  • Inert to virtually all plastic, rubber, and metal surfaces *
  • Excellent O-Ring Lubricant
  • Excellent Gasket Lubricant
  • Excellent Valve Lubricant
  • High Dielectric Strength
  • VOC Exempt

*not recommended for silicone rubber due to possibility of swelling
