High Temperature Silicone Bath Fluids are formulated for high temperature baths applications and high temperature heat transfer applications that exceed 200°C
DPDM-400 High Temperature Bath Fluid is a clear, colorless and odorless Diphenyl-Dimethylsiloxane (CAS# 68083-14-7) with a viscosity of 400cSt. It remains stable at 250°C (open system) for 1,500 to 2,000 hours without gelling or breaking down. In closed system baths*, DPDM-400 High Temperature Bath Fluid remains stable at 300°C.
PM-125 High Temperature Bath Fluid is a clear, colorless and odorless Phenylmethylsiloxane (CAS # 63148-52-7) with a viscosity of 125cSt. It has a long term operating temperature range of 230°C (open system). At 250°C (open system), it remains stable for approximately 1,200 hours without gelling or breaking down. In closed system, PM-125 High Temperature Silicone Bath Fluid remains stable at 300°C.
Although DPDM-400 and PM-125 High Temperature Bath Fluids have pour points of @30°C and @51°C, they are not recommended for low temperature applications due to their high VTC (viscosity-to-temperature coefficient). At low temperatures, their viscosities increase significantly making them poor choices for applications below ambient.
PM-100 High Temperature Silicone Fluid is a low Phenyl content silicone with a viscosity of 100cst @ 25C. Like the PM-125 and DPDM-400, it remains stable at elevated temps. Unlike the DPDM-400 and PM-125, the PM-100 can operate at lower temps without the acute viscosity increase. It has the further advantage of a lower viscosity at room temp, which makes it easy to pump and circulate.
HT-110 High Temperature Silicone Bath Fluid is a Polydimethylsiloxane Silicone oil 100cst viscosity (CAS# 63148-62-9) that is heat-stabilized with an iron-siloxane additive for high temperature stability >200°C (open and closed system). Due to the heat stabilizing additive, HT-110 High Temperature Silicone Bath Fluid offers significantly higher thermal stability than standard PDMS fluids, which breakdown at temperature well below 200°C in an open system..
However, due to the iron-siloxane additive, HT-110 High Temp Silicone Bath Fluid has a brownish color and an odor. Because of its murky-brown color, it is not recommended for applications where the instruments need to be visible. HT-110 has been described as a “PDMS Silicone oil on steroids”. Essentially, it is a cost-effective fluid that bridges the gap between the PDMS class and the Phenyl class of silicones fluids.
