High Temperature / High Pressure Down-Hole Silicone Fluids are formulated for use as high temperature heat fluids for the harshest environments in the Down-Hole oil and gas exploration industries. They possess the highest thermal stability and highest density properties of all of the Silicone Fluids in our Down-Hole line. In comparision to the PSF- Fluids, they will experience the least compressibility under pressure.
DPDM-400 and PM-125 High Temperature Down-Hole Silicone Fluids replace conventional methyl groups with Diphenyl / Phenyl groups. In doing so, thermal stability and resistance to oxidation are significantly reduced. They will remain stable up to 300°C in a closed system (closed to air).
High Temperature Down-Hole Silicone Fluids have Thermal Conductivity values between 0.00032 to 0.00035 g/cal/cm/sec °C. The Specific Heat values are 0.35 cal/g °C for the DPDM-400 Heat Transfer Fluid. The Specific Heat value for the PM-125 is 1.418 kJ/kg K @ 0°C.
High Temperature Down-Hole Silicone Fluids are characterized by their high flash points, high thermal stability, high resistance to oxidation, stability under extreme pressure, long service-life, high dielectric strength, and high V.T.C. (Viscosity-to-temperature coefficient).
Unlike conventional petroleum based fluids like mineral oil, Down-Hole Silicone Fluids exhibits extremely high compressibility and will not coagulate under pressure. The lower the viscosity, the higher the compressibility will be. Silicone Down-Hole Fluids will not solidify even at high pressures of 4,000 MPa
In comparison to the PSF-Down-Hole Fluids the viscosity of the High Temperature Silicone Down-Hole Fluids will lower very quickly as soon as they are heated. This makes them excellent choices for systems that need to pump the fluid at high temperatures. Under heat, the High Temperature Silicone Heat Transfer Fluids will easily circulate and provide a consistent temperature. Please note, if a low viscosity is needed, we do not recommended them for low temp applications as their viscosity will increase very rapidly.
